Evidence of confirmation/consent to use desired track

This emailed conversation was between me and the singer/percussion of the band Lulu And The Lampshades, who perform the track "Cups (You're Gonna Miss Me)" which I am using for my media. This evdience is t show I have written consent to use the desired track:

Gemma Moulton 07 January at 10:16
My name is Gemma Moulton, and Im an A Level Media student from London/Essex.
Im doing a Media project for my course and I was wondering if you would possibly give me permission to use the track "Your Gonna Miss Me"
The reason I have to ask is so its copyright free, plus you hold the rights to the music (and also just not to rude). Im a massive fan and I think your music would be perfect for my project. I will be sooooo thankful too :)

Thank you for reading this and sorry for wasting your time xxx

Hello Gemma, don't be silly you're not wasting my time.

So is it a personal project? Where might it be viewed etc? I'm happy for you to use it if you're happy with the version that's there at the moment. We're recording a proper version at the moment but it won't be ready for a while and there would be more lelgality issues with that. Thanks for asking .. yep go ahead.

The version at the moment is absolutely fine, if anything its great. But thanks for the offer. Im sooooo thankful I can't tell you in words

Thanks again, Gemma xxx

Imagery

For my video, I have chosen to create strong images that represent loneliness without appearing dismal. I wish to create a piece that has a really strong sense of humor, however keeping the strong perception of heart ache and abandonment. Examples of these images could be:
  • The lipstick of a past lover left on a mug
  • Footprints in the snow, but at the end of the footprints only one person is standing there.
  • Following the theme of snow use, two snow angels but with only one person left there. Looking at the remanence of their past relationship.
  • Shots that exaggerate the loneliness: sitting a chair in the middle of a road, symbolising the break in a journey.
  • Two balloons with happy faces drawn on, then one bursts, causing the balloon to rotate showing a sad face of the opposing side, representing the burst out of happiness (a similar affect could be used with smiley faces drawn on a set of thumbs, keeping with the idea that a set has been broken)
  • Two gloves on a surface, one is later taken away showing one glove (this Idea is later repeated with a pair of socks, again the repetition of a broken set )
  • A person laying clothes out on a sofa, trying to create the illusion of another person sitting with them.
  • A bottle of whiskey that has been poured into two cups, however one cup never gets consumed.
  • A young lady sitting alone on a chair, with a gradual (but with jolty affect) zoom into her upset face
  • Somebody spraying themselves in the perfume of the former partner, to comfort them, and remind them of a past relationship/memory
  • The use you lyrics being held up to the camera in the style of Bob Dylan's video, because I feel that it will break the video up, rather then a rather monotonous feeling of image after image.
  • The use of a heart being torn in two, this can also be used with a picture of the couple being torn. This is a more obvious image of break up.
  • The final image should be strong, leaving a memorable mental picture, much like that of The Maccabees "First Love" video, where the last shot if of a women roll away from a drawn outline of her body, representing someone to love. In my video I wish to use the image of the torn picture on the floor, as the women walks into the distance.

Changes

Due to unforeseen circumstances such as heavy snow fall, my project had had to dramatically altered to cater not only to the weather conditions but to my favoured ideas.

My new genre choice is Alternative/Folk, using the song "You're gonna miss me" by up and coming band Lulu And The Lampshades. The reason behind this choice is due to the obvious storyline behind the song, which is primarily about a girl telling her partner how much he will miss her when she leaves. This is much different to the other song choice, which was open to interpretation, which made it hard to hold one idea without changing the idea part way through.

Song Choice: Lulu and the Lampshades "You're Gonna Miss Me"

Original song choice: The Agitator "All That You Got"

My idea behind the song is to show how a person is affected after breaking up from a loved one or partner, the petty things that you miss, such as lipstick on mugs, or the smell of the other person, or even pouring a drink for one person.

Inspiration behind the video: The Maccabees "First Love"

This video has really good imagery and strong symoblisoms, much like how i want my video to be. i want my video to produce a feeling of lonliness/emptiness without the bleakness or isolation.
